Be Present
Be present. Be available. Let go of distractions. Make space. Make time. Focus. Stay in the moment.
It’s so difficult to be present, isn’t it? We think about the next item on our to-do list or the last stupid thing we just said. We grow anxious thinking about the things we need to accomplish or the kind of person we need to become. We dwell on our mistakes, our guilt, and our fears.
It’s tough to just be present. To look that person in the eyes. To truly listen and hear. To let all worries and thoughts disappear, and make space and room for others.
To me, living and loving with your whole heart looks like being present. It looks like making a choice to let that to-do list remain unchecked for a little while longer. To extend grace to yourself for making a dumb mistake or saying something that you wish you could take back.
Let’s practice making a choice to be present. Maybe it’s just in that moment when you’re across the dinner table with your spouse, or on the phone with your mom, or in the living room with your kids, or talking to a colleague at work. Let’s make time for our people, because they matter.
